Brightman Architects is a small, vibrant architects practice driven by a strong design flair and supported by experience of a wide range of differing projects in Sheffield, Chesterfield, South Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

We are Sheffield Architects with over ten years experience in the industry. Brightman Architects specialises in house extensions, new build homes and many forms of retail and commercial developments.

We provide a high quality and innovative design service which is tailored to suit the personal requirements of our clients. We recognise that every project is individual and, whether it be a small single storey house extension or a new build home, every project receives an extremely high standard of service and professionalism.

With a passion for well-designed spaces combined with experience, technical knowledge and an eye for detail we ensure that the end result more than matches our client’s expectations.

Brightman Architects have recently been awarded the 'Best House Extension Architectural Firm - Sheffield' in the Build Architecture Awards 2016. We are very proud of this achievement and it is a testament to the hard work and attention to detail applied to all our projects.

Brightman Architects offer a design consultation service at the beginning of each project, providing informal advice and planning guidance to ensure your project is viable in order to get you off to the best possible start.

Principal architect Chris Brightman set up Brightman Architects in 2014 after previously working for one of the Architects Journal’s top 100 UK practices in Sheffield, working on many large scale residential, retail, commercial, leisure and industrial buildings across the whole of England. During this time, Chris gained some invaluable experience in working on multi-million pound schemes for major commercial clients such as Sainsbury's, Wilson Bowden, SEGRO, Unite Student Accommodation, IKEA and many more.

Chris, who is a fully qualified architect and registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB), graduated from the University of Sheffield and completed his qualifications with the ‘Best in Year’ award in Professional Practice Management.
